Unisex Crib Bedding

When you are expecting a baby, you need a lot clothing and baby gear.  A crib, baby bottles, sleepers, bibs, little hats and socks, strollers, carriers, and more. One of the must have items are nursery bedding sets.  And more parents today want unisex crib bedding.

Unisex crib bedding is great even if you know in advance what the sex of your baby is, because it allows you to expand beyond thinking that little girls can only have pink bedding and little boys can only have blue bedding, or if you want to use the bedding in the future for the babies you will have.

Many young parents like the bold colors, geometric prints, polka dots and even using earth tones like tans and browns, which were once widely considered suitable only for little boys.  And safari themes or zoo themes are considered unisex.

You can find unisex baby quilts made with a teddy bear print and a coordinating solid fabric.  There are also nursery crib quilts with an elephant design theme in shades of brown, green and cream.  Boys and girls alike will enjoy the happy monkeys, elephants, and giraffes in a wild quilt design.

Today people agree that baby bedding fabric made of one hundred percent cotton is the best for babies skin because it is hypoallergenic and all natural.  Cotton is also a breathable fabric,  so it doesn’t hold sweat and allows for good air circulation.

Organic cotton sheets are becoming very popular because of the concerns about toxic materials used in the manufacturing process and they are reportedly superior to regular cotton sheets.  Some customers say that the organic cotton sheets grown from cotton that doesn’t have any pesticides sprayed on it, and manufactured without chemicals makes them softer and safer for infants.

In this video Alicia, mother of a three-year-old boy, Luke, shares how she created her boy’s nursery which won the third place in the Dream Nursery Contest organized by Pottery Barn Kids. Alicia shares that she wanted to have a unisex nursery which she achieved by blending Pottery Barn Kids animal nursery theme with her own creativity. Since she loves elephants, she has used the elephant motif throughout her boy’s nursery. Alicia chose light colors to keep things simple. Use of neutral colors and subtle shades, like green used for the handmade bed skirt, makes the room ideal as a unisex nursery. Continuing the animal nursery theme Alicia used curtains from Pottery Barn Kids with elephant appliqués to create a broad window and to allow more light into the room. Luke’s name is written above his crib in colorful letters announcing that it is a boy’s nursery. Alicia shows us how she turned a spare corner into a functional space. She also displays the baby’s changing station with drawers to store diapers. Alicia had shelves built at a height to store items like medicines which one wants to keep away from children’s reach. She has tied in all the elements in her animal nursery theme using a rug with elephants, again from Pottery Barn Kids. Alicia finishes with a creation she is very proud of – a simple black lampshade customized with dangling elephant shower hooks. In this way, she has created a fun unisex nursery that she has easily converted to her boys’ nursery. To explore

Wall letters is a great way of personalizing a baby nursery and children’s bedroom. Wooden wall letters (available at www.butterflycraze.com ) are sturdy as well as thick, which add 3d dimension and quality touch to your wall decorations. Attaching a decorative piece that matches the room theme, such as nylon butterfly (available at www.butterflycraze.com ), to the kid’s name (as shown in our hanging wooden letter photos) will also make the wall letters more interesting and tie the theme of butterfly decorations. Another factor to consider which wooden wall letter to buy is to consider the style of your baby nursery and kid’s bedroom. If your theme is vintage style, then, an off white, curvy and elaborated style would fit in well with your choice. But, if the room is modern and contemporary, then, a crispy white and clean sleek form would be better. At Heart To Heart (home of www.butterflycraze.com), our wooden wall letters are sweet, innocent, playful yet sophisticated, it is a perfect fit for modern baby nursery and kid’s bedroom. You definitely want to hang wooden wall letters where the focal point of the room is. For example, hang the wall letter above the headboard in children’s bedroom, or wooden wall letters above the cribs for a baby nursery. If your kids name is too short for the space, you can add a photo frame around it. For a girl’s name, such as “Ava”, you can either add a oval frame around it, tie a flower on the frame, or add one large and one small nylon
